Blogosphere is a collective community of all blogs. And community of local blogs are often called bloghood. Blogs are coonncted into a blogosphere with the help of comments, trackbacks, blogrolls etc. Term "blogosphere" is often used by the media as the alternative option to the common types of media.

Blog engines are used to search content in the blogs. The most popular search engines are Bloglines, Blogscope and Technorati. This year a new startup Afrigator - a strong African blogs content aggregator - entereв the market. Search technologies in blogging are developing quickly, so it is possible that in a few years a new way to navigate through information would be invented.

Blogs are often used as a place for advertising. The first reason for it is that bloggers want financial benrfit from their blogs; and the second is that bloggers want to promote their favourite products or services. This also was the cause of creating many fake blogs just to have money from them.
